Neutrality Falls Flat

"We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

-Elie Wiesel

For 90 years NCCJ has spoken out against all forms of bias, bigotry and hatred. We speak out, once again, against the hate-filled marches and rallies that occurred in Charlottesville, VA over the weekend.

This weekend’s violent clashes between white supremacists and progressive protesters, the resulting death and injuries, the recent bombing of a Mosque in Minnesota earlier this month, we speak out against these acts of hate.

We speak out against the countless acts founded in fear and ignorance that have continued to divide us since the current administration was elected.

We call on the elected leaders of this country to "take sides" for what is morally right for our country and speak out with NCCJ. We call on all of those who believe in NCCJ's work of advancing equality, promoting justice and building just and inclusive communities for all, to attend your neighborhood rally, sign petitions, write your legislators, and DO NOT BE SILENT.

"We who believe in freedom cannot rest, we who believe in freedom cannot rest until it comes."

-Bernice Johnson Reagon
