We are deeply saddened by the loss of an important figure of the greater Springfield community, Ronn Johnson. NCCJ’s Board of Directors and staff send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire community during this upsetting time. He will be remembered for his commitment to social justice and building vibrant and equitable communities.

Ronn was involved with NCCJ for more than two decades and served on NCCJ’s Board of Directors between 2005 and 2008. We were honored to have recognized him as a 2012 Human Relations Honoree for his talents and contributions within our greater community as well as the establishment of the Brianna Fund for Children with Disabilities. Reflecting on his motivations and commitment to social justice, Ron shared with us: “I love the process of change and designing and bringing resources together to make a difference in someone’s life.” He also stated: “I feel like I have been given a gift. I have been so blessed.” He spent his life sharing that gift to improve the lives of thousands through his tenures at MassMutual, Center for Human Development, Dunbar Community Center, St. John’s Congregational Church, and most recently the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services, among many others.

May his life and legacy continue forward as we strive for a more equitable and welcoming world.
