NCCJ Community Perspectives: How To Talk To Children About Race

Tuesday, September 22, 2020 4 Tishrei 5781

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Finding the words to explain the Black Lives Matter protests and general issues of race to children can be difficult, especially when we as adults are still trying to grasp and navigate our own understanding. This program will share some important considerations for framing in the conversation when talking to children and teens about race and racism in our country.

Together, we will explore the following areas:

  • How young is too young to talk about race?
  • How to share age appropriate information?
  • What are the protests in our country and around the world all about?
  • Why isn’t being “colorblind” helpful?
  • Ways to make conversations about race more commonplace.
